“No child is born except on the fitrah (or connectness to Allah), as the animal gives birth to a perfect offspring. Do you find it mutilated?” (Bukhari, 2:440)

What About Homework?
“Homework” is much more than worksheets and textbooks! It is about inspiring your child to actively engage his/her mind and experiencing the real world by reading, thinking and doing constructive activities even after school!
Maria Montessori’s philosophy on homework extends beyond academics. She felt that after a full school day of learning children should spend time with their families, doing routine chores at home, engaging in physical activities and exploring hobbies such as Martial Arts, swimming, sports and arts.
What can I as a parent do to bring Montessori home for my children?
Establishing and maintaining a daily routine is extremely important for children both in school and at home. The repetition provides children with a sense of comfort and order in their lives.
Maintaining a clean and organized environment is essential to the children at school and at home. It allows them to respect their environment and establish their roles within it. Children are given jobs in the classroom and are modeled how to complete these jobs appropriately. This is critical in establishing their sense of independence and provides them with life skills they will need throughout their life.
